About Me

I am a licensed therapist with over 35 years of clinical experience with children, teenagers, and adults. I began my career in the psychiatric ward of a hospital, assessing patients, creating treatment plans, and working with patients and their families to build up strengths that would enable successful treatment.

In 1994, after earning a 2nd Master’s degree, I began working as a credentialed school psychologist for the Los Angeles Unified School District. In my 23+ years tenure with the district, I tested children and teenagers for emotional, developmental, and learning disabilities including ADHD, autism, and intellectual disabilities to determine appropriate interventions, create support plans, and provide individual counseling to students and their parents.

I created a bi-cultural workshop series for parents that addressed hard-to-discuss topics including drug use, self-injury, and bullying. I managed on-going counseling groups for teenagers, creating a safe space to talk about grief, study skills, healthy relationships, and trauma. Youth who participated in my groups were more likely to come to school and graduate on time, and parents who attended the workshops reported being able to better communicate with their kids.

I also trained school staff and parents about LGBT inclusion and sensitivity, chaired the Crisis Team, provided professional development trainings on mental health for staff, and supervised Master’s level interns.

In 2014, upon earning my Psy.D, I began my private practice working with adults as well as children and teenagers.  Drawing on a broad range of therapeutic approaches, I  provide caring, culturally competent, responsive therapy that is tailored to the unique needs of each patient.

In addition to specializing in learning disabilities, autism, ADHD, emotional disturbance, and cognitive impairment, I am an expert in helping couples and families navigate their interpersonal dynamics.  I also have certifications in grief counseling and coping with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Whether you’re processing past trauma, managing emotional challenges, or coping with a learning disability, I will support you in reclaiming your inner narratives, finding your core self, and feeling empowered as you connect to a healthier, happier you!
